OCD Medications - How to get rid of ocd With Citalopram
I find a very powerful medicine called citalopram to be very effective in treating the anxiety which drives the fear that drives one to obsessions. It works with chemicals in the brain to balance out seratonin. There are side effects of course. I myself have experienced sexual side effects making me less desiring of sex.
I have found that I’ve also gained weight by taking this medication. However, this does not cure OCD, but honestly, it can make it easier. However, I beat my OCD without any drugs. When I was taking this drug citalopram, I found anxiety much easier to deal with and therefore I conclude that since OCD is an anxiety disorder, by definition it will help people with OCD.
One thing that must be brought to your attention is the fact that no medication alone will cure your OCD and if you ever want to get off the medications, you’ll need to learn the skills and tools of the mind needed to stop OCD naturally. There is no way to get rid of OCD with medications. There are ways to use medications together with non-medicinal tools to cure you of OCD.
Remember that once you become dependent on medications for OCD, once you wean off of them, you may struggle more with OCD then when you started. This is meant to be unbiased information so you and your doctor can weigh the pros and cons. I’m just writing from my personal experience with this type of drug.
I’ve taken other drugs like Lexapro and others in this class. I found citalopram to work the best for me personally. However, it may take you having to try different kinds to find one that works for you and one that helps you get the results that you need. I personally know that all of these medications have side effects and some of them may have long term side effects that we don’t even know about yet.
You must be very careful when taking mediction and make sure to take it exactly as prescribed and to not combine it with anything without first talking to your doctor and or pharmacist. Don’t even combine natural herbs or remedies without contacting your doctor.

For example, combining some birth control pills with st. John’s wort can kill some women, so it’s imperative not to combine your medications with anything without talking to your doctor or pharmacist!
So what I would say to you is that once you find a medication that is right for you, then you should start learning some non-medicinal treatments like cognitive behavioral therapy and the medication should make it easier for you to expose yourself to your anxiety.
I would only recommend medications for those who have severe cases of OCD where they can’t function, such as go to work or to school or are affected by a type of OCD where it affects your breathing a lot. Just make sure that whatever you do, you consult your doctor before you do anything in this article, period.
